Good morning all,
 I hope you had a wonderful weekend and will look forward to the week ahead….of course, one day at time. We were able to see an amazing launch on Friday, an AtlasV, which gave such a picturesque con trail….majestically lighting up the early morning sky … this wasn’t a NASA mission so NASA TV did not carry it…I never get tired of seeing launches…everything is going well for me, I was actually back in the pool 8 days after surgery and have swam the last 3 days…I see the Dr on Thursday so hopefully he will let me back in the gym, at least on some sort of limited but progressive path to get back to full strength…I have been trying to sort out the school visits for Oct/Nov/ Dec…I believe I have contacted everyone in the States, although still making adjustments to the Great American Teach In the week of Nov 16-20th… if you have not received a call from me and have previously contacted me about visiting during Oct/Nov please email me as soon as possible or call me 321 698-9407…still finalizing the schedule to Norway the week 23-27 in Stavanger & Oslo but good for Denmark the first week in Dec. On Tuesday I will be visiting Shadowlawn & Clay Hill Elementary Schools…always looking forward to spending time with the kids….wishing you a wonderful day…we have to always remember to do our best, enjoy everything we do, make each day special, keep things in perspective, let those we care about most know, smile & have fun….gabe

Clear Skies Over the United States

On Sept. 17, 2015, NASA astronaut Scott Kelly captured images <https://twitter.com/StationCDRKelly/status/644489984238489600> and video <https://twitter.com/StationCDRKelly/status/644612894005395457> from the International Space Station during an early morning flyover of the United States. Sharing with his social media followers, Kelly wrote, "Clear skies over much of the USA today. #GoodMorning from @Space_Station! #YearInSpace."

Tuesday, Sept. 15 marked the midpoint of the one-year mission to the space station <http://www.nasa.gov/feature/halfway-there> for Kelly and Russian cosmonaut Mikhail Kornienko. The average International Space Station expedition lasts four to six months. Research enabled by the one-year mission will help scientists better understand how the human body reacts and adapts to long-duration spaceflight. This knowledge is critical as NASA looks toward human missions deeper into the solar system, including to and from Mars, which could last 500 days or longer.
