Hi from India, all
I’m on my way to a city called Tiruchirappalli from Delhi…I arrived in India from Sri Lanka after a 10 day visit in Colombo and Kandy…prior to that I was in the USA for 6 days after returning from Morocco for 8 days…I got sick in Morocco, not too bad but the issue is when flying with a head cold the pressure really affects your ears, sinus, throat…when landing it gets worse…which makes your condition worsen…still not overly concerned, I had 5 days to get well…the flights back and forth to Morocco were long duration with no sleep plus about a 36 hour stretch in Morocco with no sleep…the first night there was a terrible earthquake killing thousands and injuring many thousands more…still we managed to visit schools and the visit was awesome…I got back to the USA on a Friday, Saturday I tested positive for Covid…due to leave on Thursday my concern was leaving the country, infected, knowing I would put so many at risk, especially the kids…I pay all the air fare, international and domestic, out of pocket…all would be lost, if I did not go…speaking with my doctor, he informed me of an Emergency Covid Kit that would mitigate the symptoms in 5 days…I tested negative on Thursday, was assured I was not infectious, got on the plane so relieved but still with a head cold…another 48 hours without sleep, arriving in Sri Lanka for a full day and evening of presentations…kind of numb and thinking…keep smiling, it could be worse…no matter what, the time with the kids is still magical…one of the students helping me, hid dad is a doctor…he gave me some medicine…that combined with a light schedule which allowed me some rest…I started getting better…now a week later, I am so thankful as I have recovered quite well…today’s flight, the cabin temperature is about 5C (40F) and I hope I don’t revert…life is an adventure, the challenge is to enjoy it all and always be thankful….
Well…hi again…it really seems the news letter gets pushed back and back as I have been so busy on this trip…last I wrote I was in India with a 7 hour layover to Pakistan…knowing I would have all the time to do things, it seemed logical I would easily finish the newsletter….since then I have completed the time in India, the 7 hour layover in EAU, 10 days in Pakistan, 16 1/2 layover in Dubai, 7 hour layover in Canada…and now on way to USA to home…I was sure with all these opportunities I could have written three of these but…such is life, always an adventure, going with the flow as it seams to lead me day to day…I never know what will happen, I am always along for the ride…I need internet to send the stories and pictures….so hopefully I can get this out sometime tonight…it will have been more than 50 hours since I left to go to the airport in Pakistan to arrive at my home in Florida with a 9 1/2 hour gain in time...
India and Pakistan were awesome, particularly Pakistan because my expectations were so low…all I thought of Pakistan was suicide bombers and a safe haven for terrorist after 9/11….a rocky, desolate country…what I found, I could not believe…an absolutely amazing country…wonderful schools, universities, a population like any other in the world…smart, kind, considerate, family oriented people…many high tech and absolutely gorgeous structures… totally different from anything I had ever envisioned… exactly like every Western country around the globe…the people are genuinely kind…it was so much fun to hangout with them and spend time with them…I wish the world could see whatI saw and experienced…
I am home in Florida…when I left Pakistan, I had a 16 1/2 hour layover in Dubai…a very kind and caring friend of a friend met me at the airport…we spent about 8 hours seeing this amazing city in the day and the night…I can’t thank Tanveer enough, he was amazing, my personal tour guide…I am always so grateful for all the kindness I receive…the trip from Pakistan to my home was 50 hours…I challenged myself that I would enjoy every minute…I did!...it went reasonably quick…I’m proud of myself for this :-) In Pakistan I noticed an irritation under my chin by my neck…did not think much about it….8 days later, in the US it was the size of an egg and I knew something was not “right”…the doctors did tests…when they got the results they called to come in immediately…I had a severe case of MRSA and I was very sick as well as contagious…they had to go to a super strong antibiotic but did get it under control and after a week I was good to resume my normal life…I had been away 6 weeks, had a tone of things waiting, including repairing my car…life is such a wonderful adventure…always exciting, always fun…8b days ago I got the Flu…my immune system is fried from Covid and MRSA….dealing with that now…leaving for Denmark in 8 days, hopefully I’ll be good by then…that catches you all up with me…many teachers in the US are off this week for Thanksgiving…I am so thankful to every one of you…each has touched my life in such a special way…we shared something very special...
