Hi all,

Good afternoon…saw an amazing Space X Launch last night….it seems we have these weekly, sometimes more…it is awesome, it never gets old….I watch then all….tomorrow is a very special day in NASA’s space program and the future of space exploration…the ARTEMIs 1 Mission…t a test flight of the Space Launch System Rocket and the Orion Capsule which will take astronauts to the Moon and Mars…

This is the most powerful rocket ever launched…it will literally shake the earth…I will be on KSC, watching it live from about 5km, 3 miles away…this is very close and I have tried to volunteer for everything associated with this Launch…I was outside the VAB when Artemis went to the launch pad, so thankful to have been able to take a few friends…was at the Launch Pad yesterday…and tomorrowI will be there for the launch…I will be a bus escort for foreign nationals…these opportunities are so rare…I am very thankful…

I hope everyone will find the time to watch and share it with your students, family, friends…in the history of the space program, it will always be a significant event…watch on NASA TV: https://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/index.html#public <https://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/index.html#public>

We have to stay positive and always be thankful… remembering to do our best, enjoy everything we do, believe in ourselves, and let those we care about most know (I always say this, we all need to take it to heart) …hugs… STAY SAFE, TAKE CARE, Love ya, Gabe

Countdown Continues, Teams Confirm No Impacts from Lightning Strikes  <https://blogs.nasa.gov/artemis/2022/08/28/countdown-continues-teams-confirm-no-impacts-from-lightning-strikes/>
Overnight engineers evaluated data from lightning strikes <https://blogs.nasa.gov/artemis/2022/08/27/team-assessing-lightning-strikes-to-tower-at-launch-pad/> to the lightning protection system at Launch Pad 39B that occurred yesterday. They confirmed the strikes were of low magnitude and had no impacts to Space Launch System, Orion, or ground systems.

Meteorologists with the U.S. Space Force Space Launch Delta 45 predict an 80% chance of favorable weather conditions at the beginning of the two-hour launch window that opens at 8:33 a.m. EDT Aug. 29, with a 60% change of favorable weather conditions toward the later part of the window. The primary weather concern for the two-hour launch window remains scattered rain showers. The weather guidelines <https://www.nasa.gov/content/artemis-i-weather-criteria> for NASA’s Artemis I flight test identify conditions to launch the agency’s Space Launch System and Orion spacecraft.

Overnight teams also powered up the Space Launch System rocket’s core stage, charged Orion and core stage batteries, and conducted final preparations on the umbilicals <https://www.nasa.gov/sites/default/files/atoms/files/fs-2018-02-250-ksc-ml_umbilical_fact_sheet.pdf>. A pre-launch walkdown are continuing at the launch pad this morning. Teams will continue working their way through the countdown <https://www.nasa.gov/content/artemis-i-launch-countdown-101/> today, including powering up the interim cryogenic propulsion stage, conducting planned health checks on Orion systems,

Live coverage <https://www.nasa.gov/press-release/nasa-sets-launch-coverage-for-artemis-mega-moon-rocket-spacecraft/> of tanking operations will begin at midnight on NASA television, the agency’s website, and the NASA app <https://www.nasa.gov/connect/apps.html>. Full launch coverage begin at 6:30 a.m. EDT on NASA Television and the agency’s website <http://www.nasa.gov/live>, as well as YouTube <https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fnasa&data=05%7C01%7Chq-nasa-inc%40nasa.gov%7C29822bb8b543419513c408da852f50b0%7C7005d45845be48ae8140d43da96dd17b%7C0%7C0%7C637968735504094064%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=MnHg5Pv6dJREudMrJGGywKGaKRjrwC84gXZTsSpIrjU%3D&reserved=0>, Twitter <https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Ftwitter.com%2Fnasa&data=05%7C01%7Chq-nasa-inc%40nasa.gov%7C29822bb8b543419513c408da852f50b0%7C7005d45845be48ae8140d43da96dd17b%7C0%7C0%7C637968735504094064%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=%2BsepMQPZh802MN3ZBC5CG4J52JrpDgAuNfqmApcVExA%3D&reserved=0>, Facebook <https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FNASA%2F&data=05%7C01%7Chq-nasa-inc%40nasa.gov%7C29822bb8b543419513c408da852f50b0%7C7005d45845be48ae8140d43da96dd17b%7C0%7C0%7C637968735504094064%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=GExS79aik9%2Fj7gd5cHvhtPGHU4BxK%2F5VpGBGdSakjG4%3D&reserved=0>, LinkedIn <https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.linkedin.com%2Fcompany%2Fnasa&data=05%7C01%7Chq-nasa-inc%40nasa.gov%7C29822bb8b543419513c408da852f50b0%7C7005d45845be48ae8140d43da96dd17b%7C0%7C0%7C637968735504094064%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=jSMFQLuAsz2J4OR4FlB1IvmWSOimt2yGw78hfZV%2BmB4%3D&reserved=0>, Twitch <https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.twitch.tv%2Fnasa&data=05%7C01%7Chq-nasa-inc%40nasa.gov%7C29822bb8b543419513c408da852f50b0%7C7005d45845be48ae8140d43da96dd17b%7C0%7C0%7C637968735504094064%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=gDlQFx1k7EFxN34ELIIBtcmZq9at2WZIcj8VkT7m%2BsQ%3D&reserved=0>, Daily Motion <https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dailymotion.com%2FNASA&data=05%7C01%7Chq-nasa-inc%40nasa.gov%7C29822bb8b543419513c408da852f50b0%7C7005d45845be48ae8140d43da96dd17b%7C0%7C0%7C637968735504094064%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=BGgoQqV6qNF%2FjosW0Y8PkfmPuzs38QVdND%2B5ktEEbHc%3D&reserved=0>, Theta.TV <https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.sliver.tv%2Fwin%2Fnasa&data=05%7C01%7Chq-nasa-inc%40nasa.gov%7C29822bb8b543419513c408da852f50b0%7C7005d45845be48ae8140d43da96dd17b%7C0%7C0%7C637968735504094064%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=f6tBksq24eyBXHu%2F50pFT4GZ0AvBio3XPuY6szHHCBs%3D&reserved=0>, and the NASA app <https://www.nasa.gov/nasaapp>.

The uncrewed flight test will test SLS and Orion as an integrated system, demonstrating the performance of the rocket and testing the spacecraft’s capabilities as it journeys about 40,000 miles beyond the Moon over the course of about six weeks.

The first in an increasingly complex series of missions, Artemis I <https://www.nasa.gov/specials/artemis-i/> will pave the way for long-term lunar exploration, providing the foundation for extending human presence to the Moon and beyond.
