Good morning all,
 I hope you had a great weekend and started of the week with a smile :) Still crazy busy trying to get back into things after a couple of weeks off and trip to Qatar....not even sure of the day of the week :) hope you all had a fun Halloween, it's amazing how quickly time goes as everything is now geared towards Christmas, which although seems "far" away, we know it is only a blink. All the more reason to focus on and enjoy the day we are in.....I know most of you are aware of the two failures with the commercial launch and "Space Ship". It is a reminder how very difficult these launches are and the fact that so many go perfectly is amazing. I think it is especially tragic with the plane, not only for the loss of life but that it was a gateway to the future, seemed so promising, and was generating so much interest....often these setbacks can last years....I believe it was planning on taking people into short periods of experiencing weightlessness, in 2015...I would think many who signed up and paid will want to know that it is safe :) Thursday is a big day on the Space Center and one so very special for me....DMD...Disability Mentoring Day or as I prefer Differently -abled Mentoring Day... a day in which we bring kids from local HS ,who are differently-abled to KSC to spend the day job shadowing and adult in an area which they would like to work. This will be my 14th year doing this and it has literally changed my life....the kids are great, really only want to be treated like anyone else and also just a chance to show what they can-do...that is the key...they can do anything, they just have to do it differently...I've spoken to business leaders and tell them, if you give them a chance, you will not only get a dedicated, determined happy worker but also will elevate those around them....so we have the kids for a day, let them see what a real job is like, should they choose the field of their adult and also it gives them hope...which is so important in maintaining an optimistic approach. I know I usually do this in the morning, actually started around 6 but have not had time to finish....so wishing you all a wonderful evening and fun day tomorrow....we have to remind ourselves the most important day of our lives is the one we are in...if we can stay positive, focus on the day as we pass through it, doing our best, enjoying everything we do, making it special, smiling and having fun...just one day, every day....we will not only be very successful, we will be happy too...Gabe

NASA Reveals Mysteries of 'Interstellar' Space
 <http://www.nasa.gov/content/nasa-reveals-mysteries-of-interstellar-space/index.html>
The new Paramount film "Interstellar" imagines a future where astronauts must find a new planet after climate change destroys Earth's ability to sustain us. NASA is working to help avoid this dystopian future, but we're also on the cusp of answering a question humanity has pondered for thousands of years: Can we find another home among the stars?

Tracking a Gigantic Sunspot Across the Sun
 <http://www.nasa.gov/content/goddard/tracking-a-gigantic-sunspot-across-the-sun/index.html>
An active region on the sun - an area of intense and complex magnetic fields - rotated into view on Oct. 18, 2014. Labeled AR 12192, it soon grew into the largest such region in 24 years, and fired off 10 sizable solar flares as it traversed across the face of the sun. The region was so large it could be seen without a telescope for those looking at the sun with eclipse glasses, as many did during a partial eclipse on Oct. 23.

NASA's Curiosity Mars Rover Finds Mineral Match
 <http://www.nasa.gov/jpl/msl/nasas-curiosity-mars-rover-finds-mineral-match/index.html>
Reddish rock powder from the first hole drilled into a Martian mountain by NASA's Curiosity rover has yielded the mission's first confirmation of a mineral mapped from orbit. Curiosity collected the powder by drilling into a rock outcrop at the base of Mount Sharp in late September. The robotic arm delivered a pinch of the sample to the Chemistry and Mineralogy (CheMin) instrument inside the rover.

MAVEN Continues Mars Exploration Begun by Mariner 4
 <http://www.nasa.gov/content/maven-continues-mars-exploration-begun-50-years-ago-by-mariner-4/index.html>
When the Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution, or MAVEN, spacecraft arrived at the Red Planet on Sept. 21, it marked the continuation of exploration of one of Earth's nearest celestial neighbors that began 50 years ago. In 1964, the Mariner 4 probe became the first to successfully fly by Mars, opening the way for future human exploration.

Orion Takes Big Step Before Moving to Launch Pad

Inside the Launch Abort System Facility at NASA's Kennedy Space Center stands the 80-foot high Orion spacecraft, being readied for its December flight test. Four recently-installed protective panels make up the Ogive, which reduces drag and acoustic load on the crew module, making it a smoother ride for the spacecraft. The Ogive installation was one of the last pieces of the puzzle for Orion prior to its move to the launch pad on Nov. 10.

Expedition 41 Commander Max Suraev and Flight Engineers Reid Wiseman and Alexander Gerst are in their final week aboard the International Space Station. All three homebound crew members spent time on Monday preparing for their departure. Expedition 41 will end Nov. 9 when it undocks inside the Soyuz TMA-13M spacecraft at 7:29 p.m. EST.
