On Aug. 10, 2014, the moon will become full just as it reaches the place in its orbit (perigee) closest to Earth. This full moon -- also known as a supermoon -- will be as much as 14% closer and 30% brighter than other full moons of the year.
> Perseid Meteors vs the Supermoon<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkKzMAzT5fs>
Early next week marks the annual Perseid meteor shower. NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center will host a live Ustream and web chat on the night of Aug. 12.

Cassini Prepares For Its Biggest Remaining Burn
 <http://www.nasa.gov/jpl/cassini/biggest-remaining-burn-20140807/index.html>
NASA's Cassini spacecraft will execute the largest planned maneuver of the spacecraft's remaining mission on Aug. 9. It will target Cassini toward an Aug. 21 encounter with Saturn's largest moon, Titan. The main engine firing will last about a minute and will provide a change in velocity of 41 feet per second (12.5 m per second). This is the largest maneuver by Cassini in five years. No other remaining maneuver will consume as much propellant.
